CalGames 2026 champions
The Basement Bots came home from CalGames 2026 at Woodside High School, 16–18 October, with the top prize. After a 4–6 qualification run that had its share of hard lessons, 4990 was selected for Alliance 1, led by Team 3045 Gear Gremlins and partnered with 5940 BREAD, with 6418 The Missfits as the alliance's fourth robot.
From there the alliance did not lose a match. Playoff Match 7 was the close one, 398–374. Playoff Match 11 was the loud one: 674 points, the highest score of the event. The Finals went two straight, 411–231 and then 630–391, over an alliance of 841 The BioMechs, 670 Homestead Robotics, 100 The Wildhats and 2643 Dark Matter.
Playoffs 4–0 · Finals 411–231, 630–391 · High score 674 (Playoff M11)

The part the team will remember as long as the plaque: during the event, BREAD filled out a Sportsmanship Superstar card for 4990, for everyone on the team. “Great partners to work with! Super welcoming and cooperative.”
